ARTIST STATEMENT

My photographic images appear "normal" but include skewed and bizarre details to present a distorted reality that is fun to visually unfold. Hidden within my work is a self-portrait, hiding behind humor and storytelling to describe my life from being a queer woman, to living in Florida most of my life. I use digital photographic processes to navigate subjects of mental health, time, and capitalism. My slightly askew images offer a softer way to approach bigger issues. By capturing something visually appealing, the viewer is invited to discover a deeper, darker truth makes it easier to understand.
